Discussing Decolonisation: Postgraduate Research Panel – Call for Proposals
2.00 PM to 4.30 PM
Wed 20 May, 2026
Call for proposals for an online-only PGR panel taking place on 20th May as part of the York St John Discussing Decolonisation series.
What does decolonial or anti-colonial scholarship look like in 2026?
Which theories or methodologies are most useful when conducting research with communities at the sharp end of structural inequalities, from racist bordering and policing practices to super-exploitation and the ‘cost-of-living' crisis?
What role does such research play in the context of escalating imperialist aggression accompanied by rising authoritarianism, intensified extractivism and ever-accelerating climate emergency?
How do activist researchers remain committed in the face of growing hostility, and how can we protect and expand our individual and collective efforts in a time of deepening systemic crisis?
Following last year’s online PGR panel, we are inviting proposals for short papers in any discipline exploring the radical promise, potential and pitfalls of anti-colonial and decolonial research today.
